Jesus sent his disciples out, and so we go – not to stay comfortable, but to step into the world with the message of Messiah.
Beyond engaging Jewish people with the gospel every day, our missionaries regularly go to churches to encourage believers to partner with us in reaching God’s chosen people.
But the most unforgettable moments rarely come with scripts. They come in the detours, delays and conversations no one planned. Again and again, we’ve seen how God shows up ‘on the way’, preparing hearts, opening doors and turning everyday moments into powerful opportunities. These moments are unplanned and unsuspected yet filled with eternal significance.
The days out in the field are full: travel, presentations and deep spiritual conversations. But even in the busyness of those days, our missionaries often walk away in awe, having witnessed the power of God in moments they never expected.
Dean Chariker, a missionary from Israel who recently visited churches in western Canada, shared this powerful moment: ‘I spoke at a youth conference in Calgary, Alberta. After I shared my testimony, the lead pastor invited students to come forward if they wanted to receive the Lord. I told them, “You just heard how God revealed Himself to me. You don’t need a dramatic moment. If you understand Jesus is the Messiah, that’s the Holy Spirit at work in you.” Then came a long silence, about 90 seconds. It felt awkward... until one young man stood up. Then another. Then more. In the end, seven boys and three girls came forward to receive the Lord. Hallelujah!’
Chaim Birnbaum, a missionary based in New York, shared this powerful moment while travelling through the Boston area: ‘Stewart, one of our online missionaries, asked me to visit a couple nearby. The husband had just prayed with him to receive Yeshua and wanted to meet someone face-to-face. When I arrived, the husband shared his brokenness and shame: “I don’t deserve God’s love. I’ve failed my wife so many times, yet every time I came home fearing she’d left, I found her on her knees, praying for me.” He asked to pray with someone physically to receive Yeshua, so he and I prayed together. Afterwards, I felt led to wash his feet. He resisted, saying they were dirty. I replied, “That’s the point: let Jesus wash you clean.” Moved, he then washed his wife’s feet and said, “If the ocean weren’t so cold, I’d be baptised today!”’
Sometimes, a simple invitation opens the door to something much bigger. Canada Branch Leader Aden Friedman shared this story from Kelowna, British Columbia: ‘After speaking at a church, about 20 people from one extended family came to the book table. They told me I was the first Jewish believer they’d met outside their family. We connected so deeply that I offered to see them again. Two weeks later, they invited me to a beautiful Shabbat dinner with their family of over 30 people at a nearby vineyard. Many of the attending young adults expressed interest in serving with Jews for Jesus. Since then, this family has personally rallied 13 local churches to support the Jewish community in Kelowna. We’re now working with them to launch monthly Shabbat dinners to build community and reach others.’
Thank you for making these moments possible. Your prayers and generosity help us bring Messiah’s hope not just to churches, but into the spontaneous, unforgettable moments where God is already moving – on the way. Please pray for all the lives that have been touched throughout these unplanned encounters, that their faith would deepen and that Jewish people would come to know their Messiah through it.
