Prayer Points

Shalom, dear prayer warriors,

In Jewish tradition, the law was given at Mount Sinai on the first festival of Shavuot (Exodus 19) – the Festival of Weeks. Pentecost (in Greek) and Shavuot both refer to 50 days after the first Sabbath following Passover. The day of Pentecost, recorded in Acts 2, is a remembrance of that first Shavuot. It is also the fulfilment of the giving of a new law, a New Covenant, where Jew and Gentile are united in Messiah and sent to share this Good News with all nations in the power of the Holy Spirit, in fulfilment of Joel 2:28.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (Jeremiah 31:33)

Please join us in praying for:

  • the Lord to draw the hearts of all Jewish people to the promise of the New Covenant in this season of Shavuot, while discovering that the Sinai covenant (which cannot be fully kept) itself looks forward in expectation of Messiah Jesus.

  • Jewish followers of Jesus in South Africa. Pray for their faith to be strengthened and for them to find community in the Body of Messiah as One New Man (Ephesians 2).

  • Christians who the Lord has placed in strategic positions within the Jewish community – especially those with unique access, such as colleagues, nurses and domestic workers – to be bold in sharing their faith in Yeshua in loving ways.

  • more Jewish people to receive dreams and visions that point them to Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah. Pray also that those who are currently seeing dreams and visions will have the eyes of their hearts opened to the One who is truth.

In Him who is faithful,

The Jews for Jesus South Africa Team
