Shalom, dear prayer warriors,
This evening is the start of Rosh Hashanah, culturally the Jewish New Year and the Feast of Trumpets according to Leviticus 23. The shofar will be sounded around the world, and Jewish people will celebrate and wish each other a sweet new year. But the sound of the shofar is also a call to repentance in preparation for Yom Kippur. Wonderfully, we who have received salvation through the atoning sacrifice of Yeshua, our Messiah, have all the more reason to celebrate, as we need not fear the impending judgement.
God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm! (Psalm 47:5--7)
Please join us in praying for:
-- our Rosh Hashanah gift basket initiative, which, by the time you read this, should be wrapping up. Pray that all those who receive a gift basket from Christians across the country will also receive the love of Yeshua and, some day, welcome Him as their Messiah and Saviour;
-- protection for the Jewish community in South Africa during this season, as the threat from anti-Semitism continues to rise. Pray also that Christians will begin to take a stand against anti-Semitism and, in doing so, be a powerful witness for the gospel;
-- the Lord to continue opening doors for us into the Jewish community. We have had amazing favour over the past year, with the possibility of meaningful partnerships in the near future. Pray that this will continue, and our relationships with influential people in the Jewish community will be strengthened;
-- our ongoing Jewish-Gentile couple ministry. Some of these couples are enduring hardships and a time of testing, others are still exploring, but the Lord is at work, and we are seeing their lives impacted by Yeshua.
In Him, the King of all the earth,
The Jews for Jesus South Africa team
