Shalom, dear prayer warriors,
Light is a central symbol of both Christmas and Hanukkah. Kindling the Hanukkah lights reminds us of the deliverance from forced idolatry when the Maccabees defeated Antiochus and his Seleucid army after they had defiled Jerusalem and the Temple. This was a wonderful deliverance for Jerusalem, but the light of Hanukkah is merely a shadow of the true light, Yeshua:
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)
Please join us in praying for:
- the Lord to open the eyes and hearts of Jewish people to recognise Yeshua as the light of the world in this season of Hanukkah, when we kindle the festival lights, remembering deliverance from forced idolatry;
- strengthening of relationships formed this year through our ministry outreaches, which will lead to more opportunities to share Yeshua with the Jewish community;
- opportunities to continue showing the Jewish community that Christians are their true friends;
- the Lord to stir the hearts of more Christians across the country to stand with the Jewish community and Israel; and
- the Lord to guide us as we plan for next year. Pray that He will continue to give us meaningful ideas and opportunities to build His kingdom.
In Him, the Lord of the harvest,
The Jews for Jesus South Africa Team
