As we close 2025, we look back on a year defined by our global vision: The Nets Are Breaking. Derived from Luke 5:6, this vision calls us to trust Yeshua for a miraculous catch and cast our nets wider than ever before.
In a time where anti-Semitism has reached highs not seen for generations, and the Jewish community has felt increasingly isolated, the Lord has opened doors for us that had been shut for decades. Significantly, we observed a greater willingness from Christian partners to connect with the Jewish community in genuine unity. We have seen that this increased desire for partnership is matched by a corresponding and urgent need in the Jewish community for true friendship.
This year, we have seen fruit in our ongoing ministry to Jewish-Gentile couples, in expanded partnerships with the body of Messiah and in Jewish people encountering the gospel for the first time.
The highlight of the year was our Rosh Hashanah gift basket initiative. We saw the body of Messiah across South Africa coming together in unity to achieve what seemed impossible. We partnered with 12 churches and Christian groups to assemble and distribute 2,000 gift baskets across Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town. Each basket carried a handwritten card with a message of love and support, a direct counter to the narrative that South Africa is entirely hostile to Israel and the Jewish people.
The response was overwhelming, with people moved to tears of gratitude. One family, who felt fearful and isolated, said the gesture made them feel 'seen'. This simple act led to invitations for Shabbat dinners and deeper relationships. Through these acts of love, we are bridging the gap, showing the Jewish community the love of the Messiah in a tangible way.
Earlier this year, I witnessed the Nets Are Breaking vision in action in Israel. During a street outreach in Tel Aviv, I was blown away by Israelis' openness to engage with the gospel. Contrary to expectations, very few refused to speak, and we distributed several Hebrew New Testaments to searching hearts.
I was also reminded that we are not the only labourers in the field. On a secular Kibbutz, I discovered that South African Christian rugby players have been quietly sowing gospel seeds for years, a living testimony to the Jewish Messiah in unexpected places.
The Nets Are Breaking is not just a vision; it is our reality. From the openness we are seeing in Cape Town to the miraculous access in Johannesburg and Pretoria, the harvest is ripe.
As we prepare for 2026, our focus more than ever is to point the Jewish people to the God of Israel through the Suffering Servant, so we may all await our conquering King together.
In Yeshua, the Lord of the harvest,
Rob Berman
